I started the 984.Collective with one goal in mind: To make more leaders and teams like the best through engaging and evidence-based experiences.

Over the last 14 years I’ve seen what works inside the world’s best place to work*, and what doesn’t (I won’t mention names). At Cisco, I led a research team that leveraged machine learning to understand life at work for 75,000 employees and delivered over 150 team workshops on resilience during the pandemic. At Amazon, I worked with colleagues across the globe to build a first-of-its-kind global executive development program inside Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

My career, and my life’s work, is about strengthening the scientific backbone of “soft” skills that fuel organizational performance. While at Cisco, I completed a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Pennsylvania—where I studied directly with the world’s most influential thinkers on topics like: “What makes life good? What fuels effort and engagement? How do you measure and create more resilient individuals, teams, and organizations?” The 984Collective represents a promise to continue the work of favorite professors; Marty Seligman, Angela Duckworth, and Jonathan Haidt. We know more about high-performing leaders, teams, and systems than ever. The 984Collective distills that research into simple insights and entertaining experiences that help our clients succeed.

In 1998, the field of positive psychology was born during a conference in Akumal, Mexico. “The 984” is the telephone area code of Akumal and Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel-Hill, North Carolina, where so much of my life began to flourish. “The Collective” represents your expertise and ability, and our expertise in coaching complex systems and environments, working together in the real world to improve how we think, work, and live.
